July 2010 Update
Another What's Colour son - Full Benefit aka 'Ben'
We
were very happy to learn of another What's Colour son
based in Kent, England.Ben's owner Lucy -Anne Petto, saw the story about
Troy posted recently and sent us an e-mail to tell us about her boy.
Ben is 3 1/2 years old and currently stands at 17hh and is out of the
foundation mare of the Higher-Boyce Farm Stud 'Mearl'.
Ben, who has enjoyed notable success since a yearling in led classes is
currently being broken in and Lucy tells us her intention is to compete
Ben in Showing, Dressage and perhaps some One Day Events. Keen for the
Samber bloodline in her next horse, Lucy couldn't
believe her luck when she found Ben for sale and describes Ben as 'his
father's son, he has the sweetest temperament and fantastic movement'.
Thanks for getting in touch, Lucy. We look forward to following Ben's
progress as well.

Meet
Troy - What's Colour son in Scotland
We recently received an e-mail from Elizabeth Hamilton from Scotland. Troy is a 3 1/2 year old gelding by What's
Colour (imp HOL) out a Cleveland Bay/Thoroughbred cross mare
Memo by Mesleh.
Elizabeth tells us her daughter, Vanessa and herself first viewed Troy
as a month old foal and later puchased him and have head him since a
weanling. Troy is currently being broken in and is being brought along
quietly under saddle over the northern hemisphere winter. Troy stands
16.2hh and has the sweetest temperament.
Thanks Elizabeth for your update and photo, we look forward to following
Troy and Vanessa's progress.

Update
from Magic Coloured Warmbloods in New Zealand
Emma Steel of
Magic
Coloured Warmbloods has shared with us an update on her growing
collection of What's Colour progeny in
New Zealand.
Magic Moments recently went Champion Pinto Youngstock
at the 2010 Canterbury Breeders Show held in Christchurch, NZ. Emma's
riding coach, dual Olympic and three time World Championship Eventing
representative for New Zealand, Vaughn Jeffries has
high praise of the quality of this rising two year old filly.
December 2009 saw the birth of Magic Fluke (pic right)
by What's Colour out of Pintado Delta.
To round out a trifecta of Tom Tom foals, Cheleken Indy
is in foal to Tom Tom due this coming season. This foal will be a full
brother or sister to Magic Moments.
Rubin James was exported to New Zealand late last year after being purchased by Cindy Rowe.
Cindy reports that Rubin has settled in very well to life in New Zealand, along the way he has amassed a large following of admirers from all over the country.
Rubin made his New Zealand showing debut in January 2010 at the North Island All Breeds Show, taking out Champion Warmblood, Supreme Champion Warmblood and under a panel of six judges was named Supreme Champion Stallion of the Show!
Over the winter months, the focus has shifted to Rubin’s dressage career with him in full time training with Cindy’s riding coach and accomplished Grand Prix dressage rider, Scott McKenna. Training in the higher level movements it is anticipated Rubin will have his first Prix St George start next season.
On the breeding side of things, Rubin enjoyed a huge book of mares from all over New Zealand last season. Along with the other mare owners, Cindy is eagerly awaiting her first crop of Rubin foals due later in the year.

Christmas time has brought
about some new additions to the EBL Barn. Purchased for Andrew's recent
birthday, Sanbar Ebony & Ivory aka Heather (pic
right) is calling the barn her new home. Thirty inches in height
and black and white in colour, Heather is a welcome addition to the
performance team and has even had a stint as our team 'mascot' and
minder at Nationals! Proving that she is also a competitive pony,
Heather was recently sashed Grand Champion Miniature Exhibit at the NSW
Youngstock Show. But it can be lonely looking
at the knees of other horses... so it was decided that a boy might be
needed to complete the picture. That is where Spargo Creek Onyx
(pic left) comes in. A little taller
than our Heather, 'Burger' travelled up to EBL sight unseen and proved
to be worth the wait! Also black and white, Burger has already had a
successful beginning to his show career by winning at Barastoc. He has
settled in to his own little routine at the barn and we are looking
forward to bringing him out in the near future at various 'Mini Shows'. Wrap up from NSW Welsh Pony and Cob Society
Youngstock Show The 6th
of December rounded up what was a remarkable season for the EBL &
Coachwood Team! The EBL cohort travelled down to Clarendon once again to
compete at the NSW Welsh Pony and Cob Society’s Annual
Youngstock Show. Taking down a team of six
magnificent youngsters plus one Newcomer, we all came home with a swag
of awards. Andrew started the day off
showing one of Willowcroft Studs Yearling Riding Pony Colts. Displaying
inherited characteristics from his sire Willowcroft Regal Emblem
including a power-house trot, Amanda took out the Champion Junior Riding
Pony Colt award. Congratualtions! One of the star performers of
the day was indeed ‘Heather’, Andrew’s recent birthday gift. All
30
inches of her broke 2nds run to win her Miniature Pony Filly class, go
onto win Champion Filly, then take out the Supreme Miniature Pony Title.
Returning later in the day with Andrew on the end of the lead,
Sanbar Ebony and Ivory was awarded Grand
Champion Miniature Exhibit, bringing home a beautiful garland, sash and
hot pink rug! Photos to
come! Avondale Magician
once again shone in the rings, winning Champion Led ANSA Colt and
Champion Led Anglo Arabian. We were delighted to see Cherie at the show
who always supports Magician at his outings. Congratulations once again
not only on this show, but on his fantastic show season! Chelleason Starlight
Dancer again contested the yearling Riding Pony and Arabian
Pony classes. Having matured even since Nationals, Bambi was highly
placed in both events and was expertly shown and prepared by Sam Heald. Rhythm ‘n’ Blues
returned to compete in the Anglo Arabian Yearling class. Demonstrating
impeccable manners in the ring and a beautifully executed workout,
Rhythm was also highly placed in what was a very strong line-up of
Yearling Anglo Arabians. We were also elated to see Shelley there as
well who always supports Rhythm at her outings! EBL Rich List,
hot on his Nationals success, won the Warmblood Yearling class before
being sashed Champion Warmblood. His maturity was certainly evident as
he was awarded Supreme ANSA/Warmblood/Stockhorse/Thoroghbred Exhibit
amongst a strong class of horses. Congratulations also must go to
Rebecca Lovett on Rusty’s continued success! EBL One Night in Paris
made a triumphant return to the show ring after most of the year off.
Winning Reserve Champion led ANSA, then Reserve
Champion Warmblood, she finished off her successful run with
Champion Led Arabian Warmblood then Supreme Led Arabian Warmblood/Anglo
Arabian. Completing her day’s halter classes, Paris was then ridden
around the rings by Joey and took all of the atmosphere in her stride.
All at EBL are very excited about her impending saddle career in 2010. Kolbeach Flame
came in from a quick holiday since Nationals to compete in the Newcomer
events. Having been a ‘paddock pony’ for the past 1 1/2 weeks, Spook was
quickly worked, scrubbed and prepped for his last show as a Newcomer.
Showing that he has matured, Spook won his Newcomer Riding Pony then
went onto win Champion. Remaining until the end of the day, he also
competed in the Derivative Newcomer where in a line-up of impressive
young horses, was also sashed Champion Newcomer! As always, a big
thank uou is needed
for those who helped us out on the day. Cherie, Shelley and Sandy, Sam,
Laurent, Joey and Sophie. It certainly was a team effort and Thanks for
everything! So closes the show season for
2009. Reading through our news, EBL & Coachwood Performance Horses have
had a stellar year. We have welcomed new horses to the barn, new clients
and new ideas. We have also farewelled some of our dearly treasured
horses who have gone onto bigger and better things and we are sure, are
bringing their new owners just as much joy and satisfaction as they have
given us. We all hope that you have enjoyed the past year with us and
are looking forward to an even better 2010! To all of our cherished friends
we wish you a safe, relaxing and enjoyable Christmas break with our best
wishes for a Happy New Year.
E.B. Lodge would like to congratulate the
purchaser's of two of its in-utero foals. The What's Colour (imp
HOL) x Can't Dance on Ice foal sold to New
South Wales and the Quaterback (Ger) x PrM

After Dark made the trip across the Tasman late last year to stand at
Kiva Arabians. Recently, Bonni Paul has given us an update on what Piper
has been up to since his arrival...
Piper made his New Zealand debut at the New Zealand Arab Horse
Breeders Society Championship Titles Show. This show is the pinnacle of
our showing calender, a very illustrious show to attend and compete at.
This year we competed under judge Richard Petty from the USA at the
Canterbury Showgrounds on the South Island, for us it was a huge three
day trip to get there.
Piper trotted up a storm to be sashed New Zealand National Champion
Senior Derivative under 148cm, and to prove that consistency is the true
champion was sashed New Zealand National Champion Derivative Amateur to
Handle, exhibited by me.
Judge Richard Petty commented after his win in the this class..... "My
favourite horse of the day thus far - a true quality pony''.
Piper had another outing at the 2010 Royal Easter Show at the Auckland
Showgrounds. Piper yet again trotted his way into the ribbons being
sashed Champion Led Pony Stallion and Champion Arabian Derivative
Stallion.

At both venues the reception he recieved was just as expected, as he
strutted his stuff the show hacky people could not help themselves and
had to come over and meet him. By the last day of the Royal Easter Show
he had a huge entourage of people coming over to give him carrots and
generally bestow upon him the adoration he so deserves! When you see him
gingerly prising a fragment of carrot from a tiny tots hand the ribbons
pale in comparison to the amazing pony that is Piper, he truly is the
complete package - looks, trot and temperament. What more could a girl
ask for?
The most prestigious show of the year, promoted as the third largest in
the world, the EBL team were all eager and rearing to go!
EBL One Night In Paris caught the eyes of everyone she
floated past. With her astonishing presence this filly certainly made an
impact. Winning Led ANSA Filly 3 years and the Arabian Derivative Filly
3 years and over 14hh & n.e.15hh, Paris then went on to win Champion
Arabian Derivative Mare of Filly. and later sashed Supreme Champion
Arabian Derivative! What a fantastic debut for her first Royal Show,
this beautiful filly is certain to collect many accolades in the future.
Miss Diva trotted it out to win Led
Riding Pony Filly 3 years 11.2hh n.e 13hh. An exciting win in a line up
of well known ponies.
The wonderful Willowcroft Regal Emblem competed under
saddle in various classes throughout the week taking it all in his
stride to win his Ridden Pony Arabian Derivative Stallion 5 years with
Rider over 17 years and Australian Saddle Pony Stallion over 11hh & n.e
14.2hh. Later competing in the Ridden Riding Pony Stallion ‘Jimmy’
placed second. Congratulations to Willowcroft Stud!
Avondale Magician proved his true style winning his Led
ANSA Colt 2 years and under and Led Arabian Derivative Colt under 3
years, beating a strong line up of stunning colts. Later being sashed
Champion Led Arabian Derivative Stallion or Colt. Only missing out on
Supreme Champion sash to another E.B. Lodge exhibit, this colt promises
a successful future. Congratulations to his owner, Cheree Hughan on yet
another great win!
Sanbar Ebony And Ivory aka 'Heather', was actually too
small for the measurer's stick when being measured. After sorting out
that dilemma, it was off to her class where she won the Miniature Pony
filly 2 years and under. Heather was right at home in the main arena
showing spectators her ‘cool bananas’ personality. Loved by all, Heather
sure made an impact!
A big thank you must go to all who were involved in the madness that
this show brings every year! Also, credit is due to the Royal
Agricultural Society of NSW on an extremely well run show, the logisitcs
of organising that many horses in one place would be most challenging!
E.B. Lodge campaigned a small team of horses at
this years Australian Arabian Championships held at the Sydney
International Equestrian Centre in March.
Sha’Kabu presented in the Purebred Stallion 5 years and
over class, with attitude and poise. Unfortunately missing out on a
placing on this occassion, this beautiful stallion is one to excite and
delight!
Aloha Silhouette coming ninth in a strong line up of
horses trotted out with beauty and grace. We are eager to see her next
year competing under saddle with her owner, Jess Kent.
EBL Rich List strutted his stuff to win his Led Arabian
Warmblood Yearling Colt class and followed that up with a win for
Champion Led Arabian Warmblood Yearling.
Om El Eminence (imp USA) came forward to place Top 10
in the Arabian Stallion 5 years and over.
Congratulations to all the winning owners!
Nico Witte purchased a half share in Jazz as a foal and
only sold his share a few years ago. Nico is the proud owner
of Wynton.
Om El Eminence (imp USA) was victorious in winning
Champion Led Purebred, Supreme Led Purebred Exhibit and Champion Ridden
Purebred.
Aloha Silhouette placed third in Led Arabian Derivative
Filly class and second place in her Ridden Novice Derivative class.
EBL One Night In Paris, a star in the making started by
claiming the Supreme Led Arabian Derivative and Supreme Led Galloway.
Paris maintained this consistency in her saddle classes taking out the
Champion Ridden Arabian Derivative, Best Newcomer Hack and Champion
Large Galloway.
EBL Lush, an eyecatching 4yo mare by Lubeck caught the
eye of the crowds as she won Novice Hack, Intermediate Hack over 16hh,
Open Hack Mare, Champion Hack over 16hh and topped off a great day by
being sashed Supreme Champion Hack!
EBL One Night in Paris and EBL Lush
are the oldest stock bred by EBL and it is great to see them out
competing successfully.
Om El Eminence started the day off winning the Led
Purebred Arabian Stallion over 4 years class followed up by Reserve
Champion Purebred Stallion or Colt.
Eminence also made his debut under saddle with Joey Baldwin aboard
winning the Open Ridden Purebred Stallion and going on to finish off the
day with Champion Ridden Purebred.
Aloha Silhouette had a successful day placing first in
her Led Arabian Derivative Filly class. Silhouette went on to be shown
by her owner Jess Kent under saddle for the first time, placing third in
the Ridden Arabian Derivative Novice Mare/Gelding class.
Sanbar Mr. Oakley, exhibited by Carol Baldwin, came
home with second place in the Led Miniature Pony Yearling Colt and won
Best Coloured Miniature Pony Exhibit

Next week will see EBL campaigning a

at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
The horses include EBL Lush, EBL One Night in
Paris, Miss Diva, Aloha Silhouette,
Avondale Magician, EBL Rich List,
Mr Fantastic, Om El Eminence (imp

Championships, with EBL being represented by EBL One Night in
Paris, Aloha Silhouette, Avondale
Magician, EBL Rich List, Om El
Eminence (imp USA), Sha'kabu and
Tailem Amaretto.
In between these two events, EBL Lush will be competing
in the PSI Material Championship for 4 Year Old Riding Horses at the PSI
Dressage and Jumping with the Stars held at Werribee Park National
Equestrian Centre.
Good luck to connections of all these horses. Follow the success of the
team via the website

W.Ellington arrives on Australian
shores!
Miss Diva continued her newcomer campaign, this time
ridden beautifully by Maia Murray. Putting her dainty foot forward in
the Newcomer pony and Novice events, Diva demonstrated that she has had
a welcoming start to what will be a very promising open pony career.
Joey Baldwin piloted his own newcomer hack Riverwood Lad
for his first outing. New to the showing world, Riverwood Lad
exhibited a very trainable temperament amongst a large heat of newcomers
and novices earning 3rd place in a very well supported novice hack
event. Well done Joey! Joey’s other mini mount Sanbar Mr Oakley
was shown in the miniature pony events by Carol with success yet again,
this time taking out the win for his class then Champion Miniature Pony
Colt or Stallion. Congratulations once again Joey and Carol!
Joined in the miniature pony ring was Sophie Upson’s own Sanbar
Bobby C who after a successful beginning to his miniature pony
campaign, continued with his achievements by placing 2nd in his led
Miniature Pony Gelding class. Well done Sophie and Bobby!
EBL One Night in Paris, measuring as a Galloway, began
her day in style ridden beautifully by Andrew. Winning the Newcomer
Galloway sash, Paris displayed impeccable manners and temperament
throughout the entire day winning her Novice Galloway, Open Galloway,
Ridden ANSA Mare then capped it off with Reserve Champion Open Large
Galloway and Champion Ridden ANSA! With her striking looks, unflappable
temperament and eye catching movement, we are all too excited about this
filly’s future as a saddle horse.
Finally Kolbeach Flame, after spending the entire last
season as a Newcomer, made his long awaited appearance in the Galloway
ring. Winning his intermediate and placing 2nd in the Open Lightweight,
Spook finished off the day with Champion Led Riding Pony and Reserve
Champion Riding Pony under Saddle.
EBL One Night in Paris made her debut under saddle
ridden by Andrew Buckley, winning the Newcomer Hack followed by
the Novice Hack class. Paris went onto also take out the Led Warmblood
and Led ANSA classes.
Miss Diva made her return to the show ring after
foaling her beautiful Bevanlee After Dark colt,
EBL After Party. Winning both her Led Riding Pony class and Led
Saddle Pony class and coming second in her Led Part Welsh, Miss Diva is
showing to be a very promising pony.
We backed up on Sunday January 24, 2010 to attend the Australian
Miniature Pony NSW Northern Districts Championships Show held at Il
Cadore with a team of four miniature ponies.
Sanbar Ebony and Ivory exhibited by Sophie Upson, came
second in the Led 2yo Filly class and completed the day with Reserve
Champion. Sanbar Mr. Oakley owned and exhibited by Joey
Baldwin, made his debut appearance winning the Led Yearling Colt class
and later returning to win Reserve Champion Colt. Congratulations to
Joey and Carol!
Spargo Creek Onyx, came third in his class showing a
great attitude and lovely behaviour with a beautifully executed workout.
These results leaving room for improvement, we see a great future for
this stunning little man.
Sanbar Bobby C also making his debut to the show ring.
Upon entering his class of six, it was obvious the immense show presence
that this beautiful gelding possesses. Owned and exhibited by Sophie
Upson, Bobby won the Led 2yo Gelding class later going on to win
Champion Gelding and last but not least, Supreme Champion Gelding.
Congratulations Sophie and Bobby!
Good
things come in small packages!
We are also grateful for the opportunity to lease Ambaura
Matilda from Toni Wilson. Matilda who is also a previous Sydney
Royal Supreme Exhibit is in foal to Onyx and we are excited as to what
this combination will produce next season...
November 2009 Updates
What's Colour progeny winning in New Zealand
It was great to hear from Emma Steel of
Magic
Coloured Warmbloods in Christchurch, New Zealand and of the success
she has had with Magic Moments.
Magic Moments is the first New Zealand born foal of
What's Colour out of a mare called Cheleken
Indy and is also homozygous for the pinto gene!
Now a yearling, she recently went to her first show, the Canterbury
Royal A&P where she won Reserve Champion Female Youngstock Pinto.
At her second show she went one better taking out Champion Pinto at the
Canterbury Riding Club In-hand Show. We look forward to following their
continued success.
Results in from 2009 National Arabian Stud Horse Show
What a week! With temperatures soaring into the high
30’s and a show team of 15 horses, the 2009 National Arabian Stud Horse
Show was going to be a week to remember!
The EBL & Coachwood team certainly had their work cut out for them over
the first couple of days with numerous horses entered over all rings.
EBL Lush kicked off the competition with a very
accurately executed Preliminary Dressage test. With Andrew on board,
EBL Lush had found her comfort zone within the arena
and was relaxed, soft and sweet throughout the entire test.
EBL Lush continued with her success throughout the
entire show by winning the Led Arabian Warmblood Mare 4 years and Over.
This was her first appearance since State Titles as a Senior Arabian
Warmblood and we are sure that she will follow in the success that she
has had as a junior! Her efforts were also rewarded with Reserve
Champion Senior Led Arabian Warmblood Exhibit. Competing also as an open
saddlehorse for the first time, Lush once again delivered a soft and
faultless workout in the Intermediate Ridden Arabian Warmblood to be
placed 1st amongst some very seasoned horses.
Celadon Elusive, owned by Amanda and Peter Riordan,
stepped out into the showring for the last time as part of the team.
Only the week before, Lucy had been sold to new owners in Queensland and
we were very grateful for the chance to be able to show her one more
time. With Andrew on the lead, Lucy won her Led Arabian Stockhorse Mare
event and came out with a lovely garland for the Champion Led Exhibit.
Teaming up with Callie for the ridden classes, Lucy placed 2nd in both
her Novice and Open Classes, then contested for Reserve Champion Ridden
Arabian Stockhorse in which she was the eventual winner. A big
congratulations must go to Amanda and Peter and best wishes to Lucy and
her new owners. We are sure she will go onto having a very bright and
successful future!
Avondale Magician only gets better each time he comes
out. Continuing from his success at the Arabian State Titles where he
was sashed Champion Junior Anglo, Magician was also named Champion
Junior Anglo Colt much to the delight of his owner, Cherie Hughan and
all of his connections. Magician was also successfully shown in the
Double Registered classes by Sam Heald for a win in the Led Junior ANSA.
EBL Rich List is also proving to be a competitive
Arabian Warmblood. He won the Junior Double Registered Warmblood event,
once again shown by Sam, then teamed up with Andrew to take out the
Champion Sash for the increasingly popular Junior Arabian Warmbloods! A
pleasing result for Rebecca Lovett who flew down from Queensland to
watch Rusty in action.
One of the new members to our team was Taliem Amaretto
owned by Leigh and Matt Richardson of Taliem Arabians. ‘Tigger’ as he is
affectionately known around the barn took the atmosphere as a
saddlehorse in his stride and consistently placed in all of his events.
He capped off a great show by winning the Open Ridden Partbred Stallion
or Gelding. Congratulations Leigh and Matt!!
Our Purebred Stallions indeed made their mark at the show, especially in
the Liberty events on Friday night! Shak’abu, owned by
Andy and Craig Dobson tipped the scorecards to win the Purebred Liberty
event, only just beating his stablemate, Om El Eminence
who came in third place overall. Eminence, who is owned by Rod Payne of
Caballo Arabians, came back on Sunday to be placed 3rd in the Stallion
6, 7 & 8 years, just missing out on Reserve Champion by half a mark!
Also in the Liberty, the stand out performer we believe of the entire
show was our newly acquired ‘Sanbar Ebony and
Ivory’! All 30 inches of her strutted around the arena with
Jessica Dertell and showed the big horses how it was meant to be done!
Winning the ‘Bonsai Award’ for her efforts, ‘Heather’ spent the
remainder of the show keeping her stable mates company.
Rhythm and Blues owned by Shelley Gill was also
successful in her Yearling Anglo Filly event. Having gained more
experience since her first outing at the Hunter Valley Show earlier in
the year, Rhythm has what it takes to be a competitive show horse in the
future! She joined Jindalla Park Dolce Diva in the
winners circle, who took out the win for Led Yearling Partbred Arabian
Filly. Both of these lovely horses are offered for sale and can be
viewed on the
For Sale page.
Chelleason Starlight Dancer, by Gai El Jullyen
impressed us, not only with her demeanour and temperament throughout the
entire show, but just how much she has matured since we bought her only
a few months ago! She was shown by Sam Heald in the Junior Double
Registered Riding Pony for a 3rd placing and by Andrew in the Arabian
Pony Yearling for yet another 3rd placing.
Kolbeach Flame, owned by Sandra James also had another
successful outing. In a very strong lineup of Arabian Riding Ponies, a
breed that continually gets stronger and more competitive as the years
go by, ‘Spook’ placed 4th in his led then 2nd in his Novice Ridden
Arabian Riding Pony. Congratulations Sandra!
Aloha Silhouette, owned by Jess and Carol Kent, was one
of the many standout performers of the show. Led by Andrew in the Halter
events, Silver won her filly class and went on to win the title for
Champion Led Partbred Filly. She returned later in the day, partnered
with Callie for the Camelot Junior Challenge where 3 year old horses are
judged first in Halter, then under saddle. Silver excelled in the hot
and humid conditions to come 5th overall. Continuing late into the
afternoon, Silver also won the 3 year Old Ridden Derivative Filly class
and was awarded Reserve Champion Ridden 3 Year Old. A big
Congratulations to Carol and Jess, and an extra one also for Carol who
competed with Silver for the first time in Halter, placing 5th! Well
done!
Willowcroft Regal Emblem owned by Haley and Amanda Jeffery’s is
quickly making a name for himself in the Arabian circles. Consistently
placing in his ridden classes on Saturday afternoon, he came back after
the sun had gone down for the Baskhan Memorial Sash. Being the first to
work out, Jimmy was foot perfect much to the delight of his supporters
and indeed Callie! After all horses had worked, Jimmy was called forward
as the winner. The Baskhan Sash adds to Jimmy’s already impressive
season of wins including the All Breeds Saddle Challenge Winner, The
Courtland Boy Blue Memorial Trophy, Supreme Led at the Hunter Valley
Spring Show and Supreme Ridden Breed and Derivative at the Hunter Valley
A Class Show. Haley teamed up with Jimmy on the final day of competition
for the Amateur Ridden where she also came away with a well deserved
win. Congratulations!
Dreamtime Valentino capped off what was a very
successful show for EBL & Coachwood. Winning his Arabian Warmblood Led
and Open Ridden classes, he went one up from State Titles to claim the
Arabian Warmblood Under Saddle Championship. He was also entered in the
Jess Greenhalgh Memorial Challenge where out of a large number of
Derivative competitors, won the combined Halter and Saddle sections.
Placing 2nd last year as a first season horse, this turned out to be a
very special win for Valentino and Callie!
A big thankyou must go to all of our supporters and helpers for without
them, we would not have been able to do what is needed! Too many to
mention, but Andrew and Callie extend their heartfelt thanks and
appreciation for everything that was done over the week and indeed
leading up to it!!

EBL Quiver sold to Queensland
EB Lodge are pleased to announce the sale of
EBL Quiver
(Quaterback (Ger) x Medallion (imp/dec)) to Kylee Chandler of
Queensland. EBL Quiver will return to EB Lodge in the future
to be campaigned for her new owners at various competitions and have retained
the rights to three of her embryos when the time comes for breeding. We
wish her new owner all the best for the future with this sensational
filly. October 2009 Updates Australian Dressage Championships
Andrew returned from the Australian Dressage
Championships last weekend with two very promising horses. EBL Lush contested the 4 year old Young Horse Qualifier
where she placed a creditable 7th in a field of 18 horses. The
difference between the first 7 horses was within 1.2 marks which
indicates the level of quality amongst those competing. Lush found the
atmosphere and the test to be very welcoming and we believe that this is
only an indication of the good things to come from this horse in the
dressage arena!
What's Colour (Imp HOL) also displayed impeccable
manners throughout both of his tests. He contested the Wagners Saddlery
Novice 2C and 2D and showed a very accurate and polished performance.
Andrew and What's Colour were placed
mid-field in a very strong line-up of Novice Horses.
Andrew and What's Colour appear in the Horse Deals Gallery from this event, click here to view the photo.
Results from the Hunter Valley Arabian Show
EBL & Coachwood had a very
successful weekend at the Hunter Valley “A” Class Arabian & Breed Show.
We had a number of showring debuts with our ever growing team of horses.

We have welcomed yet another stallion to the barn. A full brother to the
International Champion Om El Extreem, EBL are delighted to have to
opportunity to show Om El Eminence (pic right) (Sanadik El Shaklan
x Om El Bint Shaina). Eminence has come from an illustrious saddle and
halter career in Western Australia before having a well deserved break.
He is proudly owned by Rod Payne from Caballo Arabs. At the Hunter
Valley Show, Om El Eminence was awarded Reserve
Champion Senior Stallion to the highly decorated, and past EBL stable
mate “Gold’n Wings” owned by Sam and Courtney Gibson.
We were extremely impressed with Eminence and his demeanor throughout
the entire day- going from a snorting, tail flagging, blowing halter
horse to a quiet and dependable saddle horse all within a matter of
minutes! Holding back on his debut under saddle until the National
Arabian Stud Horse Show in November, we are all excited about what this
horse has to offer! A big thanks must go to Keith and all of Eminence’s
supporters who helped out during the day.
Chelleason Starlight Dancer, a very typey Arabian Pony
Filly by Gai El Jullyen, also made her highly anticipated debut. Placing
second in the Derivative Yearling class, Starlight Dancer displayed
confidence, movement and poise throughout the day. We must thank Sam
Heald for all of his help with her preparation over the past 4 weeks-
transforming this beautiful filly from paddock condition to show horse!
Sam Heald has also been instrumental in preparing the charismatic Welsh
A Stallion Osory Bootscooter (pic left) for his appearance in
the showring. Scooter was recently re-purchased by Eunice Buckley and in
a short space of time, has also transformed into a cute powerhouse show
pony and been broken into harness! Scooter was awarded Champion Led
Welsh A and also placed 1st in the Led Arabian Pony Stallion Class.
Celadon Elusive had a very successful outing once
again. Starting with Champion Led Arabian Stockhorse, her success
continued with Champion Led Stockhorse, Champion Led ANSA and Champion
Ridden Arabian Stockhorse/Quarab. Lucy gained some very promising
comments from all judges which was a delight to her owner, Amanda
Riordan.Congratulations!
Kolbeach Flame is beginning to find his place in the
showring winning all of his led events and gaining Champion Led Double
Registered and Reserve Champion Led Arabian Riding Pony to our other
consistent performer Willowcroft Regal Emblem. Spook
was also awarded 2nd place in the Newcomer Ridden, which was a delight
for Sandy.

Willowcroft Regal Emblem (pic right) has also settled into the
routine by winning all of his led and ridden events, plus taking out the
Champion Awards for Arabian Riding Pony Led and Ridden, and Led Riding
Pony. Emblem also delighted his owners, Amanda and Haley Jeffery’s by
taking home the Supreme Ridden All Breeds Title and the Supreme Ridden
Derivative!
Thanks once again must go to all who helped out during the day: Sophie
Upson, for her prepping and riding, Shannon Dein, Sam Heald, Sandy James
and Keith Holmes.

EBL & Coachwood would
like to congratulate Sam Heald on his new addition! A
beautiful black Arabian Riding Pony Colt, born late on Saturday night by
Sam's
Riding Pony Mare, Miss Diva. This amazing little colt
is by the successful Bevanlee
After Dark who is planning a trip to New Zealand in the
coming week to spend some
time with our long distance friend, Bonni Paul!
Farewell to Rubin James and Bevanlee After
Dark
James (IFS). Rubin has been a hugely successful sire and competition horse over the
years at EBL and formed an enviable partnership with Andrew during his time at the
barn, winning numerous championships at all levels including State, National, East
Coast and Australian Championships. Although he will be greatly missed by all who
have had the opportunity to work with him, Rubin will now settle in with his new
owner, Cindy Rowe who will continue to stand him at stud in New Zealand, and further
his dressage career. He will continue to be represented as a sire by EBL in
Australia via frozen semen. All at EBL & Coachwood wish Cindy and Rubin all the
best!! Each of these boys now have their own dedicated website - click here to see
Rubin James and here to see Bevanlee After Dark.
Foals Sold
EBL Sketch
(S.O.S x Can't Dance on Ice), the beautifully marked colt that was bornjust over 2 weeks ago has also been sold! We would also like to extend our
congratulations to his new owners, who spotted 'Sketch' in the paddock whilst
driving past! His dam, 'Marge' will now be bred back to EBL's beautiful Pinto
Warmblood Stallion, What's Colour (Imp HOL).
Congratulations are also in order for the new owners of 'EBL Hello Kitty'. "Kitten"
was proudly delivered by her dam Prettyvale Charlottes Web and is another example of
Bevanlee After Darks fine progeny. Kitten will relocate to her new owners once
weaned and we can't wait to see how this typey little filly develops!
Competition Scene
Finally, with breeding season well and truly in full swing, we have
still been
busily campaigning our show team at various competitions! Recently the
EBL team
travelled down to the Riding Pony State Show held at Castle Hill
Showgrounds with
Sandra's Riding pony gelding, 'Kolbeach Flame'
and
Haley and Amanda Jeffery's from
Willowcroft Stud's, 'Willowcroft Regal Emblem'.
With the weather not being kind that particular day, overcast and
torrential rain,
Andrew exhibited Kolbeach Flame in his led events for a
win in the double registered
class and Reserve Champion Senior Double registered, while Callie rode
Willowcroft
Regal Emblem in the 'Courtland Boy Blue Memorial Trophy'. In a
line-up of some
beautiful riding ponies, some of which were progeny of the late
Courtland Boy Blue,
Jimmy stepped out in the horrid weather and executed a foot perfect
workout to win
the class, the trophy and the garland, much to the delight of his owners
and
connections!
We are all busily preparing our show team for the next lot of
Competitions,
including SHC Horse of the Year, Australian Dressage Championships and
the Arabian
National Stud Horse Show, all whilst being extremely excited about the
impending
arrival of W.Ellington early in 2010.

W.Ellington is now on Facebook!

Breeding season off to a flying start! Arabian State Titles
It began with the All Breeds Halter Challenge, a class that attracts
large numbers of entrants that do not necessarily need to be registered
Arabian. Notable performers in this class were Aloha Silhouette, Mr.
Fantastic who was attending his first ever show for Linda and Alex
Trotter, Celadon Elusive and our own EBL Lush.
The exquisite Purebred Stallion, Sha’kabu owned by Andy and Craig Dobson
lived up to his expectations by winning his Stallion class from an
impressive line up of horses. His flashy movement and impeccable manners
saw him leave the ring with the Reserve Champion Sash to the very typey,
Gold N Wings owned by Courtney and Samantha Gibson.
Mr. Fantastic, the Arabian Pony Colt who is actually by Gold N Wings,
wowed the spectators surrounding his ring by winning his Arabian Pony
Colt class. Mr. Fantastic was also sashed Reserve Champion Arabian Pony
Colt and was also placed 7th in the very hotly contested All Breeds
Halter Challenge. A very good result for his proud owners Alex and Linda
Trotter. Congratulations!
Aloha Silhouette behaved herself perfectly throughout the entire day,
showing she has what it takes to be a super show horse. Silver placed
second in a large class of Part bred Fillies and also took home the
Reserve Champion award. Congratulations must go to all who were involved
with Silver’s preparations.
Sandy’s Arabian Riding Pony Gelding, Kolbeach Flame seems to be maturing
nicely as he gets older. Spook was shown by Jason Hodgins in his led
events and was also second and Reserve amongst a large line up of
quality Geldings. He later on returned for the Ridden events and placed
3rd in his Novice Arabian Riding Pony.
Beginning to think that the team was destined to be Bridesmaids for the
day, it was Avondale Magician and Celadon Elusive who broke the trend.
Magician placed 1st in his Junior Colt class and was sashed Champion
Junior Anglo Colt from a number of excellent young horses. Celadon
Elusive also performed effortlessly to win the Champion Led Arabian
Stock horse Mare. Congratulations to owners Cheree Hughan and Amanda
Riordan of Jindalla Park!
Willowcroft Stud’s beautiful Riding Pony Stallion, Willowcroft Regal
Emblem made his long awaited debut into the Arabian Show scene.
Competing in the All Breeds Ridden Challenge, Emblem executed the
workout perfectly and to our delight, was placed first in that class!.
Congratulations must go to his owners, Amanda and Haley Jefferys who
traveled to Hawkesbury to watch the event!
EBL & Coachwood’s entries of EBL Lush and Dreamtime Valentino continued
with their success winning Champion Led Arabian Warmblood Mare and
Champion Led Arabian Warmblood Stallion respectively. Lush also won her
Intermediate Arabian Warmblood under saddle showing exquisite
temperament and movement throughout the class; while Dreamtime Valentino
won his Open Stallion and went on to win the Reserve Champion Arabian
Warmblood under saddle.
Taking such a large team of horses for a show that is only run over one
day, it takes a lot of people that tirelessly work behind the scenes and
for this we are especially thankful. To Jason Hodgins and Luke
Stuart-Smith who stepped in to show some of the horses during the ‘peak’
periods. To our friendly and helpful clients, Alex and Linda Trotter,
Haley and Amanda Jefferys and Carol and Jess Kent, Melinda Readman and
Donna Leak for lending a hand with prepping, Sandy James again for
helping out again with prepping in between her association duties, Carol
DeSilva who is one of our major sponsors as well as a major show
sponsor, she also helped out with stewarding on the day as did Melissa
Mills , who assisted us with the team. Frank and Lynne Warby who
transported half of the team down and back and finally Laurent and
Sophie who once again went above and beyond their duties to ensure all
were prepped, prepared and ready to compete on time. Thank you!
What's Colour (imp HOL) at the 2009 NSW Dressage Championships
What’s Colour (Imp HOL) and Andrew have safely returned from an eventful State Championships! Tom made a very promising debut at State level competition. Held at the very beautiful grounds of the Equestrian Centre at Tamworth, What’s Colour contested both of the Novice Tests. Receiving consistent marks across both tests for his movement and impulsion, both tests were very accurately ridden and they were placed mid-field amongst some of the States best Novice competitors. What’s Colour certainly drew the spectators throughout his tests with his flamboyance and of course, striking markings! EBL & Coachwood are already looking forward to the Australian Dressage Championships which will be held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre later in the year.
August 2009 Updates
Hunter Valley Spring Show
EBL & Coachwood had a rather busy showing weekend at the Hunter Valley Spring Show at Salt Ash taking a team of horses and competing in multiple rings.
Avondale Magician
retuned to the showring after a long break since Toowoomba. He won his
Led ANSA Male and capped off his successful outing with Supreme Led
Youngstock of the Show. We were thrilled to also have Cherie Hughan
there to watch her beautiful boy and even get a photo with the winning
garland. Congratulations!
Rhythm 'n' Blues made her showring debut for owner,
Shelley Gill. A very typey Anglo Arabian filly, Rhythm contested a very
strong led Derivative under 4 year class. Making the final heat amongst
mostly older horses, Rhythm demonstrated that she has what it takes to
be a very competitive Derivative in the future! Congratulations to
Shelley and best of luck with this filly!
Willowcroft
Regal Emblem (pictured left) made a triumphant return to the
show ring for owners Amanda and Haley Jefferys. Being undefeated
all day in led and ridden, Emblem was sashed with Supreme Led Breed
Horse and suprisingly was left out of the Top 5 Horses in Supreme Ridden
- despite working foot perfect! Upon querying the result, it was
discovered that Emblem's name was left off the scorecard altogether!!
Despite our initial disappointment, we were still thrilled with his
behaviour and results for the day. Andrew also exhibited
Willowcroft Socialite for Amanda and Haley in the led classes
for Riding Pony and Saddle Pony Mares during the morning with success.
Our own Aloha Silhouette once again did not disappoint
taking first place in the Junior Led Palomino and the Derivative under 4
years. She received a Top 5 placing to her stable mate Avondale
Magician in the Supreme Led Youngstock and won her Derivative
Ridden Female, beautifully piloted by Sophie Upson who made the most
graceful of dismounts before the event!
Once again we need to thank all of those who came and supported the
team; owners Shelley Gill and Cherie Hughan, Amanda, Haley and
Reese Jefferys, Jess Kent who we grabbed on occasions to hold a horse,
Alicia Claire who came with us and took lots of photos of all of the
horses in action, Laurent who was a whiz at the unplaiting, Sandy who
once again made sure everyone was fed and watered throughout the day,
and Sophie who made the transformation from groom to rider over the
lunchbreak!

Sydney Regional APSB Annual Open Show
EBL
and Coachwood traveled to Luddenham this weekend with a float load of
Novices and Newcomers. Celadon Elusive owned by Amanda and Peter Riordan
of Jindalla Park had a very successful outing winning the Open
Lightweight Galloway then going on to win Champion Large Galloway. She
was also sashed Reserve Champion Led ANSA Exhibit.
Our new acquisition, Aloha Silhouette (pictured right) owned by Mary and James Triggs put
her best novice foot forward. At only her second show with us, “Silver”
won Supreme led Palomino and placed 1st in her ridden class. A terrific
result for a 3 year old filly who did not put a foot wrong all day. A
job well done to Sophie Upson who has been riding Silver throughout the
weeks!
Finally, Sandra’s Riding Pony, Kolbeach Flame was entered in his
Newcomer Heat and the Led Riding Pony. Taking home Reserve Champion Led
Riding Pony Gelding, ''Spook'' rounded off the day by winning Runner-Up
Newcomer Riding Pony to a very beautiful gelding owned by Dianne
Godfrey. Spook has now qualified for the National Riding Pony Final next
year.
We are very grateful to all of our clients who allow us to show so many
quality horses!
Stop Press...What's Colour (imp HOL) into Novice draw at State Dressage Championships

Imported from the USA, Gai el
Jullyen is himself ranked one of the Top 10 Sires in the US before
being exported to Australia. Possessing bloodlines of international
quality, he has stamped himself to be an exquisite sire of Purebred
Arabians. His son, Chelleason Crown Jewel, recently won
the Supreme Purebred Male Exhibit at the Queensland Arabian Challenge
Show, an honour in itself, but this was achieved as a weanling!
Gai el Jullyen is owned by Jason Hodgins of Milan Enterprises
and has come to continue a saddle career at E.B.
Lodge. We are eagerly awaiting his first saddle appearance in
two
years and we are anticipating to see what this amazing stallion has to

June/July 2009 Update
All at EB Lodge and Coachwood have been gearing up for what is expected to be a very busy show season!
We
have already been competing each weekend at various Show and Dressage
competitions with success.
What’s
Colour is beginning to show his “true colours” in the Dressage
arena, gaining creditable placings and scores in all of his Novice
tests. Tom’s average scores across all of his tests to date have been
between 70%-73%, with some very notable comments! We are looking forward
to the State Dressage Championships in September at
Rubin James has also made a triumphant return to the dressage arena at the recent Central Coast Dressage Competition. Having been prepped the week before by Rozzie Ryan, Callie and Rubin jumped in the deep end (for Callie anyway) and competed in both Medium tests. Rubin, after settling into his second test, came away with a 2nd and a 4th placing. Not only did he return to the dressage arena, but also the show ring!
Alexander Park Dressage Championships Weekend
Four
stallions, one mare, nine tests, two days!! The Alexander Park Dressage
Championships kicked off on Saturday with Tristan Bryant's Arabian
Warmblood Stallion, Armani, stepping into the Prelimary
Arena after a long spell from the competition arena. Capably and
superbly ridden by Andrea Kacirek, Armani scored very well throughout
his test and received a fifth placing overall.
What’s Colour (Imp HOL) once again delivered faultless tests,
and once again scored consistently, placing 2nd and 3rd in
the Novice events amongst some very seasoned and talented competitors.
His flamboyant movement and flashy demeanor is especially eye catching
across the arenas! His performance was rewarded at the end of the day
with Reserve Champion Novice Horse.
Willowcroft
Regal Emblem was introduced to the world of Pony Dressage. His
first test, being the Pony Dressage Challenge, was accurately executed
and displayed moments of true athleticism. Emblem placed 6th
in the challenge, then came out again in the official 1C against a field
of talented horses where he scored a percentage of 68 and a third
placing! On the count back, Emblem received the sash for first place for
the highest placed pony. Big congratulations must go to Amanda and Haley
Jeffrey’s who came up to watch Jimmy in action.
Rubin James competed again in the Medium tests,
settling well into the first one this time. Although placing in the
middle of the field, Rubin is showing more and more confidence as his
outings continue.
Andrea Kacirek and her mare Desiree also contested the
Medium tests scoring very well, but just out of the placings this time.
A big thank you must go to all who helped us out on the day. Andrea, for
riding Armani, Sophie and Kate for their super grooming
and strapping, Sandra for ensuring all were fed throughout the day, and
Sam, Lauren, Michelle, Hailey and their families for their support on
the sidelines!
Ruth Dalton Memorial Challenge, Foal Show and Amateur Show
EBL
Rich List owned by Rebecca Lovett was shown in the Arabian
Warmblood Foal classes, and was sashed the eventual champion once again.
This colt is only getting better as he grows and develops and we are
sure that this is only a taste of what his future has to offer.
Jindalla
Park Dolce Diva made her show ring debut in the Foal Part bred
Arabian event. She also behaved impeccably and qualified for the Supreme
Foal as well by winning Champion Part bred Foal.
Celadon
Elusive also made her debut under saddle in the Novice Breed
events. Capably ridden by
Returning to the show ring, Rubin James competed in the Ruth Dalton Memorial Versatility Challenge. Winning the halter section and placing second in both the saddle and hunter sections, Rubin was sashed Champion Overall Senior Horse. Not a bad effort for his return to the show ring in well over 12 months!
NSW Annual All Breeds Foal Show
Three outstanding youngsters all sired by the beautiful Rubinstein stallion, Rubin James.
These young future superstars did not disappoint with EBL Ribbons taking the Supreme Warmblood, ANSA, Stockhorse or Thoroughbred award. EBL Rich List and EBL Posh contested the Derivative Ring with both foals winning their respective classes and taking out the Champion and Reserve Awards.
EBL Rich List delighted his new owner by being sashed the Supreme Led Derivative Foal.
A well deserved award amongst some outstanding foals. A big congratulations to all of their owners & connections and thankyou to all who assisted us on the day!
